Versatile Vanilla Layer Cake

A simple yet delicious golden layer cake that can be modified with your own preferred extracts. Split each layer in two for a stunning 4 layer cake.

Prep Time: 15 minutes Yield: One 9 inch layer cake (serves 10-12)


2 cups granulated sugar

4 eggs

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 cup milk with 1 tsp vinegar

2 tsp vanilla extract (additional flavor extracts may be added)

3/4 cup vegetable oil

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and set aside

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat sugar and eggs, then add oil and vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, ending with flour.

Flour and grease 2 9" cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
